Children’s Movie and Leadership Event 2008

27 July 2008

On Sunday 27th July, thirteen children aged between 4 and 13 visited the OSCA rooms in South Dunedin to see the Disney Movie ‘Mulan’ and participate in activities with the OSCA youth leadership group.

After the movie the real fun began.  By that time some of the kids were getting tired but they were quickly brought into line, literally getting them to form a line based on their age from which three groups were formed.  Discussions were held about personalities, leadership, being Chinese and feelings.  To express their personal perspective activities included –-the 8-10 year old group sticking words onto a board during in depth discussions; the 6-7 year old boys writing and drawing then presenting their work to their group and the 4-5 year olds sticking pictures onto a large group poster while holding excited, funny and animated discussions.  The kids showed remarkable insight and were very focused after some initial jokey banter.

The smiling, laughter and very vocal discussion showed that they all had a really good time.  Thanks very much to the youth leaders, Karena, Jason, Richard, Patrick and Henry.
