OSCA Children’s Christmas Picnic 2010

4 December 2010
By Gordon Wong

The Children’s Christmas Picnic was held on a wonderfully hot and sunny day on Saturday 4 December. We had prepared for the worst by hiring St Clair School hall and had the best of both worlds with barbecued burger patties and sausages, a bouncy castle in the hall, bull rush and finally a very physical encounter with Santa.  Physical for Santa that is.  The kids were left in no doubt that we didn’t have the real Santa, when Adrian was scragged and stripped of his hat and cotton beard!

It was a great success and thanks to all who helped out.  Special mention to:
  • Keith Kelsall for organising the hall and a barbecue as well as his company donating the services of their bouncy castle.
  • Ruth Kelsall who literally served most of us at the food table, along with making people cups of tea.
  • Glenda Kaan for sorting out the food.
  • Michael Hall for offering to help and being lumbered with cooking duties on my barbecue
  • Adrian Thein for once again playing a very athletic Santa, but alas the kids are getting better, stronger, faster… he’s fit, but he ain’t the six million dollar man.
See you next Christmas…..or sooner.
