OSCA Youth Barbecue 2014

During the start of the semester the OSCA youth committee ran the annual Youth BBQ which was held at the spacious South Life Church on Union Street. This year, the BBQ was jointly held with the University’s Hong Kong Club and we also invited the China Club. 130 people attended with 60 from the HK Club, 30 from the China Club and the rest from OSCA members.

With sponsors from ANZ helping out with the BBQ we were able to not only feed the masses that attended, but also able to learn of the great deals and benefits of banking with ANZ .  ANZ also kindly donated several prizes for those who visited the ANZ stand.
After lunch and getting the formal introductions out of the way, the youth committee began their ice breaker and mini-games as a way for everyone to get to know each other. Games included Chinese charades, banana race and the very entertaining and popular “make your own music video”.

And no BBQ would be an OSCA BBQ without the infamous “wheel of punishment fate” where the losing team had to face their fears such as eating vomit flavoured jelly beans, wax strip (for the guys) and a nasty shot of Chinese condiments.

Overall the day was a huge success with everybody enjoying themselves, making new friends and seeing the benefits of what being an OSCA member has to offer. A BIG THANKS to Frances, Leanne, Christine, Phil, Michael & Sally, Colin and Keith for organising and preparing food and the Youth Committee & HK Club for organising the games.  Lastly a special mention to ANZ for sponsoring the event and Teresa for organising the ANZ funding.
