Chinese New Year 2014

Happy Chinese New Year from the OSCA Lion Dance Team.

This year has been our biggest Chinese New Year Lion Dance team yet. 12 BRAND NEW members participating in Lion Dancing, Music, Princess Ribbon Dancers, and Fantastically funny Clowns!

Our new Team Members are: Sovannara (Jimmy), Kannha and Di Lu, Ella and Noah Hjertquist, Alice and Emily Kelsall, Ryan Ung and Joseph Kan. Returning members included Junn Yeong, Tobias Kan, and Harper Thein-Pye.

With only 3 weeks of busy practising and preparing we managed to put together a colourful and funny performance for our main venues on Chinese New Year.

Our evening started with a 4pm show at the Dunedin Public Art Gallery, followed by another one at the Dunedin Casino and then finally the Big performance at the Chinese Gardens. Amongst it all we had a pizza/fishnchip/sushi picnic and games out in the Exchange.

It was an overall spectacular night, with laughs, big bellys, and wonderful time performing.

Saturday Night, we were able to celebrate with fine Indian Cuisine followed by another performance at the OSCA fundraiser Dinner.

Our next up coming performance will be in Oamaru at the Waitaki Multicultural Show at the end of March. With so many new members we will have to look into getting new little Lions.
