Welcome
For those who are familiar with the New Zealand Chinese Association Annual Sports and Cultural Tournament and who have already committed to attending the Tournament over the 2011 Easter weekend, thanks for your support and we’ll see you down in Dunedin.
Please take the time to browse the website for information about both the sports and the social functions so you can plan your weekend, since it will be a full on weekend.
For those who have not enjoyed the experience yet, read on and perhaps we can convince you to participate.
We have always prided ourselves on providing a really packed experience at Tournaments held in Dunedin. This year is no exception and if you browse through the website you will see we have a lot of choices for all age groups.
The Tournament has a long history with a stated objective to promote friendship, goodwill, mutual understanding and to enjoy healthy competition among Chinese people in New Zealand, and the organizing committee is trying its best to achieve those goals in the cultural, sporting and social areas.
The Cultural Concert is designed to cater for the cultural needs of the Chinese community who have to varying degrees become distanced from their historical and cultural roots. We have decided to run a cultural concert that will appeal to all sections of the community with multimedia shows, live performances of local talent from Otago and Southland.
In the spirit of “making new friends and catching up with old ones”, there will be many social events held over the course of the weekend, including: 3 functions for miniballers, 3 functions for over 18 year olds , 3 functions for under 18 year olds and 3 Veteran’s socials.
The 2011 Easter Tournament will culminate in the Tournament Presentation event, which is always a highlight of the Tournament. I recommend you book tickets as soon as you can for this event because the venue is fantastic and there are limited tickets available.
This year’s Tournament will be one of the largest held in Dunedin recent times and we hope everyone has a great time while they are here. We have a committee who are enthusiastic about running the best tournament we can, so we invite you to come down to Dunedin to experience the “Southern Scene”.
